Social Emotional Learning

What is Social Emotion Learning (SEL)?

SEL makes a difference. We know this from the research, which demonstrates that an education that promotes SEL has a positive impact on a wide range of outcomes, including academic performance, relationships, and mental health.

The San Mateo-Foster City School District ensures all students receive the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) they need to maximize their opportunities for success both in their academic career and throughout their lifetime. Using research based/evidence-based curriculum such as Second Step® positively impacts a wide range of outcomes including academic performance, healthy relationships, mental wellness, and more.
