Through a Montessori education, our children will develop an ongoing enthusiasm for learning and develop the habits of lifelong problem solvers. The Parkside Montessori program supports students to respect living things, appreciation for all cultures and develop self-discipline and independence.
Parkside Montessori School provides a public Montessori program, offering an alternative curriculum designed to meet all California state educational standards and providing the same services and resources as other district schools. Parkside Montessori is also home to multiple elementary age SDC classes (Special Day Class), as well as multiple district preschool classes, including a Montessori preschool class and an SDC preschool class.
Parkside Montessori currently serves approximately 270 children, TK through 5th grade, and is expanding to become a TK through 8th grade program. We will welcome our first 6th graders in the 2021-2022 school year. As the fastest growing public Montessori school in the Bay Area, we're thrilled to be extending Montessori opportunities for our students through 8th grade.
In line with the San Mateo/Foster City School District standards, Parkside's average class sizes are 24:1 for grades TK-3 and 27:1 for grades 4-5.
We offer the following programs to enhance the Montessori experience at Parkside: field trips and assemblies, school library visits, Music for Minors (a weekly program for TK - 6, which includes instruments in 5th/6th grade), Art in Action (hands-on exposure to a broad range of artists and styles), Green Team (students and parent volunteers work together to complete projects related to gardening and the school environment), physical education, classroom aides, parent-led lunchtime activities and SDC (Special Day Class) inclusion.
We welcome all families to be a part of our school community. Our parents are engaged in their students' classrooms and find ways throughout the year to support our educators and staff. All families are requested to volunteer at least 30 hours per year.
Our community programs include early summer TK/K welcome, campus beautification, Walk-a-Jog family event, International Potluck, movie nights, a talent show, and Montessori parent education events. The Parkside Montessori PTA is strongly involved in organizing and supporting these activities. For more details, visit here.
